Peony Bouquet

Peonies are in season here in Hawke’s Bay.  While my husband & I were out last weekend, we passed by a roadside flower stall on Havelock Road.  Their flowers were fresh cut and irresistible.  So I happily purchased 2 bunches of their short stemmed peonies.  Over the next week I enjoyed watching them open.  It was my first peony bouquet.  What a treat!  I’m sure there will be many more in my future!

Spring Colour

We’ve had such a mild, dry winter that for some flowers, spring started much earlier than normal this year.  Last week I visited Clive Square with a friend of mine and discovered a little patch of anemones.  At first the patch looked a bit sparse & uninteresting.  But once I sat down and viewed them at their level, a whole other world appeared.  Their vibrant colours were captivating.  The Napier city gardeners do such a wonderful job planting the CBD.

Exhibit with HBPS at Princess Alexandra

At the beginning of August, I participated in the Hawke’s Bay Photographic Society’s Exhibit held & hosted by Princess Alexandra.  It was the Club’s largest Exhibit to date.  There were over 70 images displayed from about 25 photographers.  I displayed 6 prints, 2 in custom frames & 4 matted.  I also introduced 20 Note Card designs (a new product!).

Although it was the same weekend that a major winter storm hit Napier causing a 4 hour power outage, it was well attended & a great experience.  I especially enjoyed talking with the visitors who came by to view the exhibit.

Lastly, I want to say “thank you” to each of you who purchased my work!  It is so nice to meet the new owners of my prints & hear about why you are attracted to certain images & where you plan to hang them!

Art Deco Weekend in Napier Highlights from 2011-2015

Another Art Deco Weekend is upon us here in Napier.  It is an amazing spectacle.  The first time I witnessed it in 2007, I couldn’t really take it all in.  It brings people in from not only New Zealand, but from around the world.  Some vintage car enthusiasts even ship their precious automobiles over for the occasion!

The best part is how everyone is able to participate in it with just a little bit of effort put into dressing the part.  Napier’s CBD magically transforms into yesteryear, when you combine vintage cars along the streets, vintage planes overhead & everyone dressed like the 1930’s.

Needless to say, it is a photographers playground!  Most years, you will find me there with my camera along with everyone else.  If you ever thought “No one uses a camera anymore,” you haven’t been to Art Deco.  I always come home thinking the big camera companies would be thrilled to see all the gear that was out that day.

I’ve gone through my archive for the past 5 years & selected the highlights of the many images I’ve shot at Art Deco.  Most may be purchased as Wall Art.

The Art Deco Weekend Galleries include:  People & The Overall SceneAir Show – Vintage PlanesVintage Cars;  &  The Vintage Car Parade.

(Note:  If you are vintage car owner who participated, you don’t have to scroll through all the images, just put your license plate number into the Search Box.  Most car images have been labeled with a license plate number or an entry number.)

Image on Display

Thank you Photopages@Napier Picture Framers for the opportunity to display my image in your shop window. It is a treat to see how you chose to frame it! I rarely get to see how my clients frame my prints.

This 12″x18″ (30x45cm) print is available for sale, either framed as shown or unframed.  Please enquire at Photopages for details.

Other print sizes are available or if preferred, it can be printed on canvas.  My prints are sold unframed to allow you to select your framing to match your décor.

Example of a custom frame with photographic print.

Buying an unframed print allows you to select your own custom framing to match your décor.

By the way, for those of you needlework crafters out there, they also did a beautiful job lacing an hierloom embroidery of mine & reframed it with archival matting.

Golden Winter Waves

Once in a while, we are lucky to have both waves & a strong northwesterly wind, which adds the wonderful back-spray.  To this add the golden light of sunset highlighting the wave break & a dusting of snow on the lower ranges.  All these elements came together for about 7 minutes!  But it made it worth being out in the cold wind.

Summer Regattas on Hawke’s Bay

We are having an amazingly hot summer so far here at Hawke’s Bay.  Recently the Napier Sailing Club hosted a few sailing regatta’s.  It is great to watch the sail boats race their way across the bay.  When the sky is blue, the water looks almost turquoise which really makes the white sails pop!  I’ve added several summer images to my “On the Bay” series.  Here are a few examples:

Introducing Wall Art Canvas Wraps

I’m excited to Introduce my Wall Art Canvas Wraps.

My Canvas Wraps are printed directly onto professional quality heavy canvas material using archival inks, & sealed with an UV Protective coating.

The canvas print is stretched around a high quality pine frame with a mirror wrapped edge.  This means that the full image remains on the front of the canvas and the outside couple of inches are mirrored onto the framed edge.

For my New Zealand clients, the Canvas Wrap is delivered stretched, ready to hang.

For my international clients, the canvas will not be stretched, but sent rolled in a tube, ready for your local framer to stretch (to keep shipping costs as low as possible).

See my Hawke’s Bay Galleries for images available for Wall Art Canvas Wraps!  Find the size that best suits your needs.

Any questions?  No worries, just contact me.
